trouble with .rm to .avi conversion

Hi,

I've been trying to convert .rm files to .avi, but whenever I try, the audio and video are slightly out of sync in the converted files. I've tried RM Converter and EO, but I have the same problem with both. Any ideas why this might be happening?

I'd just play the originals on RealOne, but whenever I do, my Axim locks up after about 3 minutes of play.

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

what format are the files? are they pal (25fps) , ntsc(29.9fps) film(23fps) my guess is that you are converting the file to a different rate than it was, so you will have to therefore either convert the audio (use besweet) or convert the video.
you can use the guide over at doom9.org under guides on the left to correct audio sync.
if you still have access to the .rm then i would convert it to the same fps as the original. its sometimes easier ;)
hope this helps

Thanks for the reply!

I wish I knew what fps rate was used on the original, but I downloaded the files from a site that's now gone, and have no idea what format they used to create them. Is there any way I can find out using the existing .rm files? I tried checking under Properties, but didn't see anything helpful. Sure sounds like the easiest fix would be to nail that down and try converting it again.

Any additional tips would be appreciated!

did you try the guide to correcting sync?
http://www.doom9.org/virtualdub_procedures.htm#mansynch

if the audio is only out by a continuous amount (i.e 1sec all the way through) then use this guide http://www.doom9.org/virtualdub_proc...tm#Audio_delay

this should help you. this will sort out any issues.
