How to Play .avi files on X5?

I have avi movies taken with a digital camera I thought would play from my X5 via WMP. I have tried copying them to the X5 using Active Sync Explorer, but WMP on the X5 doesn't see them to open. I tried "Copy to Device" from WMP on laptop, and get error that my portable device does not support the specified format.

Yes, it doesn't support it, but if you download this software designed for the veo digital camera for ppcs, it will play .avi, becuause that is what it records it's movies in .avi too. But just move the movie to my documents folder, and start the program, you'll get a message saying there is not camera insterted, reset your device, just click ok. Then click album, and find the movie and double click on it, and it will start playing.
Here is the software Just click download the one futhest to the top, the one that says Software Drivers for Veo Photo Traveler for Pocket PC (EXE). ;)

Yes, i know, you don't have to reset it, lol. I actually have a VEO Digital Camera that plugs into my CF Slot on my Axim. But sure, anytime!

The icon on the button depends on whether the program settings are for Still Picture (Triangle icon) or Movie (movie projector icon) mode. It hasn't worked for me in either setting.

You can use Windows Media Encoder to convert files from AVI into WMV format, with a preset conversion setting that is sized perfectly for the PPC-sized display.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.aspx

I think that you can also use Windows Movie Maker to do the same.

Have uses Primiere 6.0 and a freeware frameserver to convert a Quicktime to WMV. A bit expenside so to speak but does work.

QT is a pain to do somthing with without a reduction in quality. May do a pass at vcdhelp to see if they have any small program that could frame serve into Windows video encoder.

Quicktime(.mov) converts to divx or .wmv real easy with this program and is only 15.00 ...There is a trial ver. if you want to try it out first. I was a Beta tester of this software, Hence the BigDs templets with-in the program...If it can be played in WM Player on your PC it will convert it to PPC and then some....Here is the link Movie2MemCard

Handy Backup 3.9 uses avi for digital cameras. You get a 30 day free trail.
