Another success story with divx 5.0.3

I finally figured it out!!!!!!!!

With Divx 5.0.3 there is a tab called "Profiles", it should be the last tab.

Make sure "Choose your profile" is UNCHECKED
It will complain that you will make divx files that might not work with divx players.

Now, go back to the "Bitrate Control" tab and under the variable bitrate mode drop down list you can now select

"Original 2-pass, 1st pass" after the 1st pass run, select the "Original 2-pass, 2nd pass" and make your second run

I was using "Multi-pass, 1st pass"

ALSO.... I am running my trailers at 300kbps at 24 frames and it plays flawless on my 400mhz.

I need help... (but for now I'll settle on suggestions for this problem)

I have a 50MB Mpeg (SNL - Harry Caray) that I'm trying to squeeze onto my Axim. I'm using DivX 5.0.3 and VDub 1.5.0. I did exactly as you had -- Unchecked profile on the last tab of DivX, selected 200kbps as bitrate. Used original 1st pass.

However, the file I get is the same size as the original -- and it won't even playback on the desktop! ("Format is not supported")

I've tried 128kbps, lowering the frame rate to 12fps instead of 15fps, resizing down to 320x176 instead of 320x240...

This is driving me bonkers :rolling:

Is it the audio that's screwing things up? I hardly hear any mention of that... Do you just leave it at source audio / direct stream copy?

Any advice is appreciated... I gotta get this thing to be a video demonstration machine, and I don't wanna have to keep using Windows Media Encoder/WMVs. (which works every time, BTW)

you probably selected "Original 1st pass" instead of "Original 2-pass, 1st pass" after you run this you have to run the "original 2-pass, 2nd pass"

This is how I determine aspect ratio. Say the movie is 480/270

I take 480/320 (thats divide) which equals 1.5
Take 270/1.5
which equals 180 so I resize the movie to 320/180 and use bicubic for filter mode.

You can resize the movie using the "resize" filter

You have to convert the audio to mp3.

You have to convert the audio to mp3.
