How to sort files in Playlist in Windows Media Player

Hi guys

Have one problem. I copied some MP3 files to my PDA or better to my SD card and added the file sto the playlist in mediaplayer but they are in the wrong order.
Isn't there any way to sort them by file name or something like that ause it really suxx to do it by hand.

Thanks

I wrote an app to do this. If you want I can make it available...

That be amazing of you, and I am really happy that it is at least possible without installing another player.
Well how can I get it? I assume it is small so can you mail it to me at starsheep@gmx.net?

Thanks a lot

I know that but if you have about 40-50 files on your card then this takes very very long and I don't wanna sort hem out by hand

Ok, you asked for it:

alphaasx.exe

To install: Copy the exe file to your Ax.

It's a PPC2002 file (Hopefully they fixed it for 2003). If it's required I can probably compile for 2003 as well.

The UI should be pretty self explanitory (there aren't many options :D). You'll need to select the playlist again in wmp so that it reloads.

Thats it. Let me know if it works (/doesn't work).

TODO List:
*Remove the message where it tells you how many iterations it took to sort your playlist.

*Figure out why it's 150kb :rolling:.

Sorry, just read that you guys have x3's with ppc2003. I don't think it will work. Unfortunately for you guys I fly out to NZ in about 12 hours so don't have time to work on this just now.

I assume that ppc2k2 files don't run at all on 2k3?
evc 4 is 230MB
sp2 40MB
sdk 86MB

That sucks. I've got most of this at work, so I'll be able to create a 2003 version in a couple of weeks

Yep, PPC2003 here too so won't work for me either.
Would be really great if you could make a version for PPC2003 after you get back. PLEASE don' forget it.

BTW are there any other good freeware players that will do the trick with onboard features maybe?

alphaasx.exe for WM2003

Please let me know (by PM or posting here) if you try it and what happens when you do. I've got no way to check if it runs on WM2003.

Cool, I'm glad it worked.

I've discovered that WMP seems really keen to randomise the list so I've sometimes had to sort it again some time later, but that's no big deal.
