Copying licensed music to SD card
I am trying to copy licensed WMA music files downloaded from one or more of the music websites (BuyMusic & Napster) which allow for unlimited transfers. However, when I try to copy to the SD card or even the Axim's built in memory, WMP 9 errors out:
"WMP cannot copy the file because the license associated with the file restricts it" I can copy any unlicensed file to the SD card without a problem. Transfering the file manually to the SD card still doesn't work as the PPC Media Player errors out because it cannot find the license. The downloaded music files are supposed to be licensed for unlimited transfers. Is there anyway around this or is this a limitation of the music licenses? I'm using the USB cradle if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Scott -
Wondering if you ever found a solution. I've been able to copy Napster-purchased songs to my CF card on my Axim, but not to my SD. I get an error message when trying to copy...quite annoying really.

I've transfered licenced music using Windows Media Player 9 Series to my Axim... it was music bought from od2 in the UK, and when copying it transfered a licence file too... i had to put the SD card in the axim and transfer it through WMP straight to the SD card for it to work.
The licence file is just a few KB, so I leave that on the SD card the whole time, and if I want to play that song I can copy it using my card reader now as the licence file has already been migrated... Hope this helps some, but I suspect it won't as it sounds like you've already tried this... in which case it sounds like the licence you have for that music does not permit this...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I might try the 'rip from CD' route or breakdown and get a CF card. Since this happens from at least 2 music download services - BuyMusic.com and Naptster, I suspect it is a license issue. The thing that bugs me is that when BuyMusic.com first opened for business, I was able to transfer a good number of downloaded songs to the SD card. Then one day - no more. Thanks.

I have the same experience with BuyMusic.com. What is the file extension on the license file, sheepy? I would try to copy that before I rip anything.
It is absolutely useless if I could only save licensed music on RAM. How many songs could I have with all the other files and apps I need to run? One, two or three. That is totally unacceptable and unrealistic.
