Audio/Video Don't Sync

Guys,

I encoding 3 movies over this weekend & I noticed that at the beggining of the movie the audio/video sync just fine, but as you get towards the last 1/4 of the movie it is out of sync. Any reasons why this would happen? It is out of sync on both my PC after encoding and on the PPC.

I have probs with my audio cutting out every 3-4 sec for 1 sec on movies I have made. I have tried to up the quality but, no go. Any Ideas to make it run smoother? ( different ripping process maybe?)

What method are you guys using to rip/encode the movies, and from what source?

I am following the guide from BIGD'svideo site and I am ripping straight from a dvd I burned with a Phipils DVDR75 in m6 mode(slow burn format) to a Philips DVD+RW disc. I am using Divx 2.2 and virtual dub. I think it maybe in my conversion from avi to mpeg. Please let me know if I am on the right track.
