volume level - can hardly hear
This site is great. So far I've learned how to do video creation (and it worked!) and I learned about the MS Portrait program (which worked to an X5 in another city!).

the problem is with the volume on both an X3 and X5 that we tested portrait on. I have to stick the speaker to my ear in order to hear. Is this normal? or am I getting too old?

It is normal. The speaker volume is very low. You can hardly expect anthing more that beeps and squeaks from a speaker the size of a finger nail. Even so the Axim is not as good as iPAQs in this respect

But the sound quality through 'phones or ear buds is excellent. I use cheap but good 'phones - Panasonic RP-HT51 which cost inder £10 here in the UK. This makes the Axim into a first class MP3 player.
