GSPlayer - New Version - Disappointed
I have been using version 1.94 of gsplayer for a few weeks now and it has been working great, especially for playing files off my desktop PC on my Axim. I just downloaded a new version, version 1.95, and major disappointment - it doesn't seem to have the ability to play files off my desktop anymore. In version 1.94, to play files off my desktop, I go into "Add File" and then type in the desktop shared name (which I created in Resco Explorer). I could then browse the files on my desktop within gsplayer. With version 1.95 though, the "Add File" screen no longer has a field where you can type in the shared name. Major disappointment. I've gone back to version 1.94. I looked for an email address for the author but couldn't find one. Does anyone know how to contact him. I'd hate to think I will not be able to upgrade to new versions because of this feature being missing - but this is a very important feature for me.

I want to reply back to my own post here. I found out last night, that what I want to do can very easily be done with the new version of gsplayer . I wasn't using Resco properly to create the network mapping. There is an option for creating the network mapping as a PPC file folder rather than a "My Network" icon. You want to choose the file folder method. Then the new version of gsplayer (or any mp3 player for that matter) can easily access the files and directories on your desktop PC. Sorry for any confusion I may have created.

Ok, this may be little off-topic...
But what I have seen it's not possible to add multiple songs to the playlist in 1.95 as it were in 1.94, when you just had to press Ctrl+A to select all songs in a directory.

Regarding 1.95, I've noticed the same thing. In fact, the entire file navigating process in 1.95 seems to be less user friendly than 1.94. I'm staying with 1.94 for now. I really didn't see anything in 1.95 that would prompt me to swtich.

GSPlayer & gsgetfile.dll
Do you have "gsgetfile.dll" in the same directory as Gsplayer2.exe. If you put gsgetfile.dll in the same directory, you will be able to navigate your Axim's entire file structure to add files to the playlist. It also has a icon that let you select all the files in the active directory. I use a freeware program called NetUse to Map my networked desktop multimedia drive. This program allows you to place and remove a network folder on your Axim's root directory. I haven't tried GSPlayer 1.95 but this combination works like a pro for 1.94a. I hope this helps

Yes I do and I am using 1.94 and it is working great just like you described. But the author has changed the interface in 1.95 and it doesn't work the same. No where as flexible.

V1.95 works fine for for me. I can navigate just the same as always and CTRL-A works, too. There must be something wrong with your installation.

I have tried both 1.94 and 1.95 and if you don't have the gsgetfile.dll in the same directory as gsplayer then you lose the ability to search any mapped folders.
Interestingly when I use Resco Explorer and have the setting to show my network folders my Activesync gives me the 'coomunication error with out of date......' Go figure..........

Oh, yeah.
The problem was that I didn't have a gsgetfile.dll in my GSPlayer-directory, so I solved it thanks to MBT :)

So is the consensus then that upgrading to 1.95 is worth it even if a previous version work OK?
