Question maximum File size for divx?

Hey folks,
I'm new to the PDA thing, but not to the divx thing. My question is...
Is there a maximum file size that an X3i won't read? I've got the maximum processor setting. I'm using a 512 Kingston SD card. The movie that i'm trying to run is about 480 megs. Do I need to move all my programs to the sd card so there is a maximum amount of ram available?

Hope this hasn't been asked before, but I did search and could not find anything.
thanks in advance,
Rick

I'm sure as long as you can fit it on your card, you can play it in your X3.

There isn't a maximum size for DivX but there is a maximum bitrate. When you encode your media, within the DivX options, you can choose between profiles. Ensure you choose the Certified DivX Portable Video profile. When you select it, it'll tell you what you have to do to make it viewable on PDA's if it's not Portable Video compliant. Good luck.

I changed the bitrate and everything is good now.. if only I could get the audio to sync in the axim.. I'm gonna do some searching and see what I come up with.
Thanks again,
Rick

The only way to have the audio synch up on a PPC, if it's synched up on a regular PC, is to make sure you have enough memory freed up and the processor speed's up to its max or overclocked. Keep in mind that DivX was intended for computers with at least 450Mhz and most PPC's aren't that fast unless overclocked. Go to the overclocking forum in this site. There's alot of info there that can help you. Good luck and have fun. BTW, the lower the bitrate is on the DivX file, the easier and faster the device can process it, even though you sacrifice some video quality. Try playing around with the settings and you'll come up with a system that'll satisfy you. It's time consuming at first but worth it if you plan on using your PPC for movie-viewing. Let us know what works for you so others can try the settings out. ;)

I do the 2-pass at 128kbps that is done on one of the guides here. I get very good video rendering and flawless sound when underclocked to 200MHz.
