DivX resolutions

My first post! I just encoded my first pocketPC divx video clip. I have it 320x240 rotated so that I can view it full screen on pocketMVP. One thing that I have noticed is that pressing the button that looks like an 'X' seems to expand the picture to a bigger size so that I can't see maybe 3/4 of the rest of the picture.

Does this mean that 320x240 is larger than the screen, and thus encoding it at this size is a waste of space? What size do you suggest?

I think that is "zoom"...

which player or encoder did you use

I am very new to this and have on single purpose: to playback a video in the highest quality I can get on my Dell Axim 300hz with the best frame rate I can get. So withthat said which is the best player and encoder thatI should use?

Thanks!

Keith

here is a link to a tool that you can use when you need to calculate for your little DVD-rip --> PPC Divx movie project.

this tool is a compilation containing all types of calculators you will need.

Avi Bitrate/Resolution calculator

Hope this could be of help to you :)

This is some of the programs that i use when i encode, its hard to say exactly what you need, its all about what you prefer and what you want to do and how much time and effort you want to put in to it and last but not least what quality you want achive when you encode your DVD-rip.

DVD2AVI
FlasKMPEG
SmartRipper
DVD Decrypter
VFAPIConvEN
VirtualDub
GraphEditor

No short answer to your question, but i can tell you this.
It is not hard if you give it some time, and i would recomend this site for beginners .

Nickys

just take your time learning, and have fun i promise you its worth it.
