Hi Aximners,
I was trying to check the max. playtime i could get from my Axim.
Using a little app called "ScreenOff" i was able to play 8 hours and 30 min of mp3s!
Screen Off shuts down your screen while leaving your axim on.. you can turn the screen back on with a button and you can also control your media player via buttons.
Hope this help.. let me know if you need more details.
Bump for a great site Chris!
A.O.

Does this make it so the touch screen is de-activated? Please say yes.

Can you program the buttons as well as which one turns the screen back on?

Hi again,
You can program screenoff so you can turn it on/off with any button. When it is off the touchscreen is deactivated (and you $ave lots of battery!).
You can also program other buttons to control WindowsMediaPlayer (play/pause, vol up, vol down, mute, etc) while the screen is off
The free version of screenoff has a delay (about 3 secs) wich is removed in the pay-for-it version.
happy listening!
A.O.

Windows media player and PocketMVP both have this screen off function built in. It's a great battery saver and better yet it's free with no delay. Just look in the map buttons menu of these two programs:
Media player: 'Screen Toggle'
PocketMVP: 'Toggle Display'

All right! No more pulling it out of my pocket and finding Calendar, Tasks, Word, and File Explorer open, never mind the display being lighted repeatedly.
Than-q. :)

Call me stupid, but I can't figure out the screen toggle section of Media Player. Hey I was just kidding! Stop calling me stupid!
How do you select nothing for screen toggle. I accidently pushed some buttons and now I can't get rid of them.
Thanks,
Rodney

Easy... in the same screen as you map buttons, there is an <unmap> in the dragdown list along with the other stuff...

With PocketMVP you can probably listen to mp3's longer because it boasts that it uses less processor power than media player. I have no idea if it is true since I haven't done any testing, but I do know that when I was using Media Player, my NES emulator didn't run well, but with PocketMVP it runs fine. (with the sound of the emulator off of course) I love great programs that are free...
