I also have a pair of the Sony MDR-EX71SL headphones and they are easily the best sounding headphones I have ever owned...
I picked them up for about $30 on ebay

i ended up getting some sony earbuds at cicuit city for $15. very nice sounding earphones, volume control on the cord (and it is about 2mm) and overall a nice set.
