PlayerPal(remote music Player), anybody?
Does anybody has experience with PlayerPal, another remore music player to control WMP.
I can't get it installed. I have NET installed
and I use WindowsXP home ed.
I am now using "Vinyl" but since this seems to be out of development I am busy looking for any alternative.
V1.1 is a free version.
If you like it to try it yourself you can find more info here
Enjoy.
Peace,
Henk.

You need Win XP Pro
Hi,
You cannot run PlayerPal on Windows XP Home Edition. You must have one of the following OS' - Windows XP Pro
- Windows 2003
- Windows 2000
This is because PlayerPal needs IIS. In the future we will ship a web server with PlayerPal. However, until then you have to upgrade to use our software. Sorry.

It is bad enough that some programs only work with XP but to cut out XP home now, wtf, why wouldn't it work with XP home?
I love Vinyl though so i don't need anything else but damn.

PlayerPal needs a web server. XP home does not have one. In a future release we will ship a built in web server so that XP Home users can use the product. This is explained on the site, and pointed out in my previous post so there is no confusion.
PlayerPal is the only web based remote control for Windows Media Player. You can use it from any browser. You cannot do that with Vinyl, hence the difference.

Why would you want to use PIE as a browser when Vinyl the program itself is a browser. What other web browsers are there for PPC and if it doesn't change the interface then what is the advantage of being able to use different browsers? I do see the advantage if you wanted to control your WMP on one PC from another PC but i am sure there isn't many people using this program for that, plus this is a PPC site :p

Yo if you are only using your pda to control WMP for music only might I suggest using Winamp with remoteamp instead? I've been using it for 4 months and I love it. It's quick and painless to install and use. Hope it helps

:) This is one of the key reasons I built PlayerPal . I wanted a Google like interface to control my music from multiple devices. I specifically don't want to install software on each device. Hence I pushed the technology stack onto the server.
Control Windows Media Player from a browser with PlayerPal

im assuming that he was refering to me. Winamp is free, www.winamp.com. Remoteamp however is not. you are required to buy the keycode. but you can get it working. you know how to use a search engine right? ;)

Alright i see dave, coo coo.
Is there anyway you can make a program that does the exact opposite? Like control WMP on my PPC from my PC. So if i wanted to hook my X3i up to some equipment and play the music over there but have control of it at my PC in my house. A lot easier to move the PPC then the PC to where i want to play the music :) It would almost be like a wireless cable to a set of speakers.
