Question DVD to Axim

i am pretty sure that there is some way out there to do this, but i am not sure how to do so and it would be really helpful to know..

What do i need to copy a full DVD onto my computers hard drive so that i can use Windows Media Encoder to convert it? I know how to use WME, thats quite easy, but my question is how to copy the DVDs to the computers hard drive. I am pretty sure it can be done, do i need some certain software, hardware or what?

the main reason for me doing this is because of my large DVD collection that i would like to be able to take a few of them on the road with me..

SmartRipper to get the DVD on your PC. It will come out as a .vob file. Just rename it to an .mpg and then carry on with the converting.

just change the .vob at the end of the file to .mpg
-g
BTW: PLEASE run searches before you ask questions (this is for you andybrown) because things like this have been asked a bunch of times before. Please just search first its not that hard. This topic in particular has been talked about extensively

i think what he is trying to tell you is right click on the filename that has the extension of .vob and change it .mpg. When you right click on the file one of the options you will be given is "Rename". Just click that and change the extension and then convert it.
