Yeah, their server is down, and I am left with my harddrive copy of 0.2 :)
It's one heck of a player, only short of mpeg playback (video) but overall it's amazing, especially if you encode with b-frames (bi-directional frames) - a setting that pocket device should use all the time to save up processing time and quality for small videos. :)

PocketMVP cant play bframes for some reason... well they do, but just skips a heck lot (about 6 fps for a 30fps video with bframes)

Hello folks,

I was wondering if there was any word about their server getting back up. I read about this earlier, but was unable to download being at work. This piece of software sound far superior to the pocket mvp.
Thanks,
Rick

Thanks also for the link...I installed it and playback seems to be very smooth, with one problem. Everything I play is upside down (the video that is). They play normally on Pocket MVP, but on BetaPlayer they are upside down. I have gone into video orientation to see if that can change things but I have had no luck.

Any ideas from someone would be appreciated...

thanks!

Normaly it should be no problem to rotate the picture to any direction you want. I have maped the first button on the right side of the 5-way button to do that.

I understand about the mapping of buttons...I have them mapped out on Pocket MVP and Windows Media Player. But on this new betaplayer, when I press play for any video, it is always upside down. I can get it to rotate sideways but only occasionally...

Map one button with the rotate function, now the image should rotate 90 degrees each time you press it.

Sorry to bring back an old post, but does Beta Player handle avi files? I tried to load one but had no success.

Yes, but it has to be a DIVX .avi ...Just guessing but you probaly need to encode it using VirtualDub or PocketDivxEncoder. I have a guide on VirtualDub here if you need info on how its done http://www.bigdsvideo.com/bigdsvideo...uides/id7.html
