New divx/xvid player - BetaPlayer

The guy who authored the much-improved divx.dll update for PocketMVP has had enough of the pocketMVP development team and started up his own player over at corecodec. It's currently in very-early-alpha release phase but already it plays very well, and is it seems faster/better than PocketMVP already...

http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/ -- get the player here
http://www.corecodec.com/modules.php...iewtopic&t=689 -- thread in the pocketmvp forum at corecodec.org where the new player will live also.

Ah i love this program. Just to let you know, version 0.02 was just released late tonight/early this morning :)

I love the speed of this thing. The fact you can play videos larger then 320x240, that way you get even better picture. LOVE the benchmark mode, hehe, you can finally test the limits of your PPC with this.

I haven't watched a full movie on it yet, just test videos so i am off to test long term sync. Download NOW!!

Wahoo! This is the best movie player for PPC. PocketMVP = uninstalled. I hope the members of the PocketMVP team realize that by not cooperating they have created a monster that will lead to the downfall of their product. Oh well, live and learn, and then get the kick-assiest player avaialable!

*nod* my feelings exactly. I also feel that they were quite probably illegally witholding the source code of a GPL'd piece of software - if it extended or used any other GPL'd software in the process (which I'm pretty sure it did in order to have the range of decoding abilities that it did) then refusing the ability to download the latest source code is also breaking the licences of those pieces of software....

And, as you say, has led to someone else starting up a new piece of software from scratch where improving the old one would previously have been preferable. Not preferable any more...

Pocket MVP, uninstalled-- Beta Player is now my player of choice. Better playback, and I think a beter interface.

Betaplayer is definately faster than pocketmvp, but I can't get it to do widescreen like in mvp. It says fullscreen in tne options but isn't highlighted. Am I doing something wrong. I downloaded th 02 version.

BetaPlayer rocks!

I sincerely hope that the finished product only improves what is already a FAR superior piece of code. I also used PocketMVP until I downloaded this wonder! I was unable to play movies from my slower-than-dirt SanDisk 512MB CF card. After a few minutes, the player would lock for up to 5 minutes or sometimes require a soft reset in order to continue using my PDA.

BetaPlayer loads the same files faster, plays them clearer, and so far I have not had any "burps" in the playing of files of any size.

I love it!

Thanks, guys. My fault for not being clear. I meant fullscreen landscape mode. Pocketmvp will fill my screen in landscape. I have to agree with everyone else though that the speed on betaplayer is fantastic!!
