Fps
What is a good fps to get on the ax? I am using Pocket TV and getting about 6.4-7.0 fps on the mpeg I have.
Is this good/bad ? Is there anything I can do to get better performance?

you can download trailers from pocketmatrix.
There are some (Matrix) that run at 24fps on my Axim 400 with no dropped frames (using PocketMVP) Look at fibrizo's guide at the top of this page for encoding advice.

It will be a balance between quality and frame rate. I find for the stuff I encode, I like high quality frames so anything over 12-15 fps will start dropping frames for me... but I have never had a source at 12 fps drop more than 3 frames per movie...

As clarification to my earlier response to cparks' question about FPS playback on the Axim. Today I ran through the SD card holding the trailers downloaded from pocketmatrix and checked each of the files . These are the ones with 24 fps encoding. I played them on the Axim running no other programs and in power save mode. (200 Mhz) Results from PocketMVP "Show dropped frame" feature in configuration menu.
Matrix 2 - Teaser Total Frames - 1888 Dropped - 6 Episode 2 - Clone Wars Total Frames - 3468 Dropped - 4 Lord of the Rings Total Frames - 4021 Dropped - 2 Men in Black 2 Total Frames - 2784 Dropped - 12 Every short video file encoded in lower frame rates (15fps and 12fps) played with zero dropped frames.
