You mean the little microphone that is of poor quality?

The built in recorder will make wav files which you could convert to MP3. But the quality is really bad.

The quality is actually not bad at all. If you use an MP3 recorder, the quality is increased greatly. I took my Axim to the Elton John and Billy Joel concert last night and actually got a very decent recording of the concert. I used NoteM, but I think that it has limitations on file size.

Really? I can't stand the way mine sounds. I use an olympus mp3 recorder which sounds so much better.

Now that would be cool... I'm assuming since its a "professional" solution that it means big $$$$$$....

That is very cool. I used to have a DAT machine that recorded beautifally, but it was a bit too bulky to keep taking into concerts and stuff. This would be perfect... if it doesn't cost too much.

It takes SmartMedia cards so it depends on what I am recording. I had almost 35 hours that I recorded from a conference that I was at. I've never used it to record music, but given how well it works at conferences, I'd assume it would work well.

I paid just over $300 at Fry's Electronics for it.
