What do you mean you cannot play them with media? Do you want to play them on your x30 or on your home computer. Are they encoded in .wmv or .mp3? Is there are error message? I don't think that you need an encoder at all...please clarify and I'll try to help as best as I can.

hi,
thanks for your reply...
they are encoded mp3 files, all i want to do is stream them to my x30.
i am new to this but not sure how to make windows media player play them.
i do not want to copy them to my x30 just stream them.
i see the network folder that has the files and also see the files in the file explorer but how do i get media player to see the files on the network computer.
thanks in advance..

hey, i had the same problem, all i used was a program called resco file explorer, then you can view the files on your computer from there, and it will map the drive for you and you can then simply click on them and they will play, but i couldnt set up a playlist containing files on the computer, and they played with the built in wmp.

If your talking about your files loading to the player when you first choose your folder. Yes. But after that, mine runs smooth.
Mine takes a good 10 to 15 minutes to load, but I'm talking about 20 gigs of music at high bitrates.
Okay, for Windows Media Encoder, you set up a streaming server. You enter that ip address (local) into Windows Media Player, and it should connect. HOWEVER, I do not recommend that route, because you won't be able to change the song :)
So, if you like iTunes, or at least can stand it, I suggest trying WifiTunes.
