Problem playing avi....newb issue I'm guessing!

I have followed the info on how to reduce avi size but I have the newest divx release and so far I can't get the file size down to 6mb and instead get 28 mb file size from 175 mb files. The info I got on how to do this might be dated?

ALSO....when I play the video on the pocket pc and also wmp...I have to touch the screen or push one of the buttons every two or three min of viewing as the screen goes dark...when playing a vid should this happen? It is a pain to say the least....

Can't help with the first, but the second should be resolved by changing the screen dimming settings (Brightness)

I am not sure if you can get a 175MB file down to 6MBs without it being unwatchable, you wouldn't even be able to tell what is ont he picture.

Ya you have your backlight to shutoff after a certain amount of time your PPC isn't being used. Goto start---settings---system tab---brightness---battery power tab---uncheck "dim if device is idle for more then".

You can do the same if you want under the external power tab.

I wish they would have the option within the players (like WMP, Betaplayer, and MVP) to automatically keep the screen on while playing a video though, that would be very convenient.

Thanks for the help! Got the screen to stay up now! Appreciate the help.

I have sometimes gotten the file down to 6mb....but have not figured out how to do it consistently...been following the quick guide to reencoding video for axim with divx 5.0.3 But have the newer codex from divx...so doesn't quite match up to the guide...

MVP does have a setting to do this. Go into Settings>Configure and check the box in front of Keep Alive. It works great :D I'm not familiar with the other players.
