Copy Protection?

Okay I read the guide but when I tried to rip in DVDShrink it says "DVD Shrink encountered a problem, Copy protection error, Incorrect function."

I assume most disks have protection so how are people getting past this with DVDShrink?

Pretty sure you need to insert the DVD and play about 10 seconds of it then pause it and minimize the window. Then run DVDShrink with the player STILL minimized. close the player when ripping is complete.

Thanks, but that didn't work either =( This time it gave me an I/O error but still listed copy protection error. The movie plays flawlwessly so it shouldn't be an I/O problem. Dunno.

So much for simple copying.

DVDShrink will not Rip most DVD's. What you need to do is use DVD Decrypter to Rip your DVD's to your Hard Drive (15-20 min.) following this Guide http://www.dvdshrink.info/dvd-decrypter.php And then use DVD Shrink in the open files mode using this Guide here http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg...ink31-main.htm This is for Ver. 3.1

Yeah but I don't need it on a DVD, I need it on my hard drive to convert for PPC.

Then you don't want to use DVD Shrink. Thats for backing up your DVD to DVD. Check out my Guides for Ripping and encoding for PPC.

I used DVD shrink to backup to HD, then ran through pocketdivxencoder with similar settings as this thread:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=42035
use betaplayer on X30H, no probs!

Maybe I got lucky with DVD Shrink and the DVDs I have?

When I get some time, I'd like to play around with some different methods...

no please try fair use

I have tried them all PLEASE GIVE FAIR USE A TRY! Its the best free program out there. I have been putting in 12-14 hour days for the last week on my vacation trying to find the perfect program. I came across a link here and really love the program. You can use pocketDivxencoder to change the files later to whatever you want to use. Trust me and save yourselves Alot of headaches. FU is really the way to go. I am still using it to encode All my DVDS to portable files. WOW! Put them on A 2GB CF and at 700MB each you won't be sorry. Using betaplager is truly amazing! I have been using the defaults xVid playing in raw mode, but the benchmark is showing 134%. This is not using a decoder that takes advantage of the onboard graphics chip and 16MB memory built in. I tried a divx file before and the movie benchmarked at 434% using betapicards 2700 decoder on my x50v. So in the long run I am going to use FU and encode in divx. There is abox to decide what size the final file will be. Be prepared to wait awhile. Its takes quite some time to do an encoding. Thanks

No, PLEASE TRY FAIRUSE. I think the site is down. Maybe the word is out that FU is too good to be true. I just downloaded it day before yesterday and it is truely amazing. All you do is put the dvd in your drive and use the default setting and bam, pocketdvd, but I think someone has found us! I pray that the site hasn't been shut down because I have been trying to find the PERFECT program and this one it IT! I can use pocketdivxencoder to shrink the video to any size I want later, or you can do it in FU. I use betaplayer unstable .095, FU, all the plugins, all the codecs downloaded at DivX site. Also it is helpful if you have all the dvd player programs on your system like WMP, divx player, I have powerDVD player too. WinDVDXcopy trial will download codecs too. The only thing I am saying is the more codecs and player you have the better so when you find the right one that works, you can let the trial versions expire, but still keep the codecs. I hope this helps. Dan

DVDShrink

Turn off the option to burn with Nero. That should eliminate the error.
