Betaplayer problems

Anyone else having problems with betaplayer 0.04?

At about half way through a movie the picture becommes blocky and the audio goes. It happened on every movie I've tried to play no matter what length they are.

All the films are encoded in divx5 and played on my X5.

I've checked there site but the forums are empty.

Haven't heard anything like this. you might try the "unstable" version?

I guess this is the forums you are talking about?

If not, picard, the developer, seems quick to try to help people in the above forum.

strange error. unfortunatelly i have no idea what could cause it. the samples work, but larger files not? what happens when you benchmark a movie file? do you see any speed change in the middle? (benchmark is in the file menu)

sorry i closed the forum you posted, because that is not the official one (it was active by accident). please use this (there is forum link from betaplayer.codecodec.org too): http://corecodec.com/modules.php?op=...viewforum&f=24

Thanks for getting back so quickly, I'll check the files that were causing a problem when I get back home tomorrow and post the benchmark figures here and on the corecodec forum.

Right one of the files that cause troble the benchmark figures are:

Frame rate 30.40
Amaple rate 53660
data rate 384Kb/s

I guess there could be a glitch in the avi file, but it runs through fine if I use the DivX player on my desktop PC.

so during benchmark you didn't see the problem?

what happens when you playback the movie in normal mode and seek to the second part or after the part when it starts to become blocky.

if the audio and video part is not interleaved properly BetaPlayer could have some problem. maybe try increasing the buffer size (in settings dialog/player page).

Yes the problem was still there. I had to do the benchmark twice as the movie hung when I got to the problem scene. The figure I put in the earlier message were the benchmark figure up until the glitch.

I can see when the problem is about to happen the movie becomes jerky, then blocks of colours appear on the screen after that the windows busy box appears on the screen. I've tried to leave the busy box up to see if it plays the rest of the movie, but it never recovers.

If you restart after the problem scene which would be about 5 mins of the movie the playback goes back to normal.
