Problem Using Windows Media Encoder

Howdy,

A long time lurker, first time poster. Love this site.

My problem is using Windows Encoder and DVD Shrink. This happens when ripping a .VOB or an .ISO file. After the encoder has made its first pass, the second pass starts encoding about half way through the movie. The sound from the resulting file starts at the begining of the movie with the video at about the half way mark.

I've tried the "Mark In/Out" settings and they appear to be correct -- the length of the movie. I've also used the source from both file and device -- that does sync the sound and video, but again the movie starts midway through it. I don't have any time compression, length, or limit size settings enabled.

This occurs with CBR or VBR if using a second pass.

I've tried and like using Pocket DivX Encoder, but the files look and sound better to me from Windows Encoder. And yes they take a longer time to process, but the outcome is better.

Windows Encoder was working for about 5 films, and now the problem above happens all the time. I've also tried just some small (5 minute) movie files.

Thanks in advance for any help ,
Rexman
