Enabling / disabling the equalizer in Betaplayer 0.0820 does not seem to affect the sound 'quality'. I bought some in-ear headphones for the subway ride home and they are a bit bass heavy. I was hoping to reduce the bass freqencies with the equalizer but fiddling with the appropriate frequencies does not appear to make any difference. The headphones are fairly decent sony's.

did you enable the equalizer? Just changing the settings doesn't enable it. You have to check that one box.

Yep. Tried it both ways, through selecting the menu option and going into the equalizer and clicking the enable checkbox.
