GPRS/EDGE + BT Phone + X30

This has got to be the best thing to come around since the ipod. Just imagine you can now walk to X location or while on the bus listen to live streaming radio stations from the internet. No need to carry your MP3's with ya.

I myself am on a GPRS network and was wondering if there is anyone else out there that has tried this on an EDGE enabled phone?

Oh by the way in case you are wondering I use PocketMVP + a shoutcast 28.8 server (winamp.com) just to make sure there are no skips.

Hello Maletek. I'v been thinking of doing the same thing. Who's your provider and how much are you paying for the data service? Which BT phone do you use to connect to the AXIM? How fast would you guess the web browsing on the axim with the gprs connection? I've always been curious about that. Thanks.

Well currently I am with Cingular which is offering "Truely Unlimited" data service for $20 per month (also comes with some sms messages and such too).

As far as speed it is not too bad although the browsing is a little slow there is enough throughput to get most other things working great. I can even stream music, I think that PIE has an issue to where it does not like using a BT connection as some secure sites wont login and you get a page can not be found error, but when I run into that I just load up NetFront and it goes fine.

I use the t616 with the axim to get online and I have yet to run into a problem with it. I am waiting to get a phone that does EDGE as singular says that is also included in the unlimited plan as EDGE is really gprs only compressed to all hell or something.

Just incase you were wondering the stats for gprs are upto 172Kbps while edge is 384Kbps, I can't say that I have seen GPRS goto 172 but I have seen it around 80-90 on my axim before (using spb gprs monitor).

Hope that helps and have fun with you truely wireless solution.
