Instialling a TV tuner
Hey this is a dumb question but I use a "cable" connection for my internet. If I wanted to set this bad boy up, do I have to run another line, get a splitter, or what? How does it work?

If I want to set up a tv tuner card, I'm supposing that I have to use my cable line. However, I have a cable internet connection. Do I just split the line, or is there something deeper involved?

I take it you bought a TV tuner card for your PC. Yes, you will need a separate connection to the tunner card. Although you can use a splitter on the cable feeding your cable modem, you should be aware that you might affect the operation of the cable modem. The recommended way to install a cable modem is to split the cable feed into two as it comes in, with one side being dedicated to the cable modem, with the other side used for the televisions.
That said, it may work perfectly well. I have my cable modem sharing the feed to a TV set, and it works well. It all depends on the strength of the incoming signal.

Depending on your cable, you will have free cable tv on your pc.
I don't have digital cable so any tv I plug into my cable gets the same channels as all other tvs.My tuner card in my computer gets all the same channels.
Digital cable tv however requires a decoder box to recieve the channels.

I'd Check Best Buy to see if anything is on sale. A TV card is not something to skimp on, We bought a cheap one and it was horrible --- but sales are always good I got mine for 90 off from 180. You could see if Leadtek or Hauppage have a cheaper one. You should be able to get a ATI TV Wonder for around 90 dollers which isn't bad.

i have always used ati tuners though they were built into my all in wonder video cards (highly recommended), the stand alond card is ok but dont buy the tv wonder value...it sucks and i believe it is only mono audio output...not stereo....
the hauppage is probably ur best bet...plus you also get FM radio built into it (not on any ati card)
