Question Problem with WMP

I use my X5 when travelling and have now discovered the benefit to putting TV shows onto CF card and watching while flying etc.
However frequently while watching the shows, the screen will ture black and then after a few second WMP will jump to the next item on the play list. If I catch it before it starts the next one, I can see that the time counter is at something strange like 2 1/2 hours when I am only watching a 30min show. If I rewind to around the point where it stopped it will generally continue, however soemtimes it will happen again after 5-10 minutes.
Just wondering if anyone gets the same and if anyone has managed to solve the problem.
WMP also did the same when I was listening to music, so I have changed to GSPlayer and haven't had a problem since.

Thanks

try using BetaPlayer from http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/ and also you will have to install the codec asf.setup.UNSTABLE.092.exe from the plug-in link from the betaplayer website. And must be installed into main memory.

I have just tried Beta player but found it was hanging up when playing the video even more than before with WMP. Is there any setting I should make before starting Beta player.

try adjusting the beta player speed rating to 110% and keep increasing until it smoothes out. And try some differant settings...it also allows you to benchmark the video's FPS. Hope ths helps....and if still skips try freeing up more program memory on your PDA or even try soft reset then run movie....hope that helps

It might be the way your video is encoded. What kind of bitrate are you using?

I am using Windows media encoder set to its default for pocketpc widescreen. According to what I can see, it seems to be 259Kbps.

Any help most appreciated.

I am having this exact same problem.
I have tried it with .avi and .wmv files using WMP and Beta Player.
It keeps exiting and starting over. Not in the same place either. Any ideas?

The files I am trying to watch have either been ripped from DVD to .avi (not sure in which program as a frend did it for me)and I then encoded them using Windows Media Encoder. Or I used DVD-to-pocketpc and did the whole thing myself.

Either way I get the same problem. WMP will suddenly stop playing current file and then move onto next file in playlist.

If I watch the same file again, it will not stop in the same place again. I can watch the files on my desktop without any problems.

Wow, that's an interesting one.

Try downloading a wmv off a good site and see if it still happens.
Say, www.redvsblue.com and get one of their episodes in wmv format.

Never had it happen to me.
