I have been trying to watch videos on my Dell, but the video just quits at random spots. I have tried recoding the files in AVI with DivX and i have tried coding them in WMV. The same thing still happens. I have tried BetaPlayer (since it is the only one i can get to run AVI files) and WMP. I am running an X5 Basic with a 256mb CF card. I code the files then copy them to my CF card since i don't have enough built-in memory. The video plays for a while then quits. Then i have to start it over. It never quits in the same place.
If anyone can help...please do!

How are you encoding your videos? I am pretty sure there are guides to encoding videos for the axim in this forum.. go for 320x240 and stuff like that. The axim doesnt seem to like the high bitrate videos.
Have you tried the newest betaplayer unstable thing? think its 0.92 and that works well.

yes, that is what i am using. I have the same problem when i encode them using Windows Media Encoder and play them in Windows Media Player. It's just really wierd. I am using all of the recommended settings. I have also tried the latest Pocket DivX Encoder and i get the same results.

The Windows Media Encoder is at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.aspx
I don't particularly care for it because it seems to freeze sometimes when i go to encode a file. All you need to do really is encode a file so that it fits on your X30, then open in a player that will play it. However, i am obviously doing something wrong because i am still having problems with the video simply stopping at random points.

Hey everyone,
So when everyone one else in this forum plays a movie, it simply plays from start to finish? I am using an Axim X5, 300mhz, and i put my videos on a 256 CF card. The movie starts to play, and sometimes goes for quite a while, but then it just stops and sometimes BetaPlayer crashes. If anyone has any ideas. I'm talking anything, i don't care how crazy it may sound, please reply.

Here's a good question. If you can watch streaming movies WITHOUT encoding to a different size, why do you have to re-encode the file to play FROM your PPC.
Perhaps it's not the screen size, but really just trying to get the file size small enough. Did I answer my own question?

There is a great step by step tutorial on this site for the ppc. They use Windows Media Encoder 9 Series (free). I just don't know the url. you could search for it. I used it and it works, with no probs.

Betaplayer 0.093 fixed my problem. I can now watch movies from begining to end without a problem. I think it's wierd that nobody else had this problem.
