good cheap dvd

I want to convert some of my DVD's to a format my Axim can read and have a small file size. I already know how to compress Divx files (aprox 25min video to 35MB). I just don't have a DVD rom or know how to convert DVD. So first, where is a good place to find a cheap DVD rom for this task and what software would I need?

Well, go to pricewatch.com and search for a cheap DVD drive.

Then go to the multimedia forums and look at the top 2 posts that are sticky. It goes over how to convert the DVD to an AVI and then shrink that AVI down to size for the Axim.
