I looking to purchase a Camcorder and I noticed some models have the ability to record on an SD memory card.
Has anyone used the SD card in there Axim to view movies recorded from their camcorder ??

They have camcorders now that take SD?

My brothers digital camera (primarily for stills) can record video (without sound), and it saves in MJPEG format .AVI files, from what I heard most digital camcorders use this format too. You can't play those files in Media Player, but there is other software available. I haven't gotten my Axim yet, but I think there's at least demo software on the CD that lets you play the files on the CD.

Edit: http://www.bitbanksoftware.com/PQView.html can play those files, in case nothing on the disk can.

Enob, most digital camcorders allow still pictures to be stored on the Secure Digital card, but not film sequences. Some of the newer digital camcorders allow MPEG-4 compression film clips, but check to be certain they can be written directly to SD card. My understanding is that the bit rates are very high and the SD card is designed primarily for still images at this time. I could be wrong.

I have tried to view *.MOV and *.AVI files from digital cameras I own and Windows Media interprets them as unknown file types. I downloaded a file conversion program from Microsoft's site and got an error message each time I tried to complete the conversion.

I am looking for another multimedia program that will read .AVI or .MOV files.

Oh yeah, I even tried to send files via Active Sync, but they were not converted to .wm files during the transfer.

Tommy

Video recorded on the Panasonic SD-AV10 A/V recorders SD card can be played using Windows Media Player on the Axim. Quality sucks though due to the high compression (mpeg4).

The program I linked in my last post plays both.

Note: There are several compression formats that are saved to .avi, the software above plays MJPEG format files, and maybe some others. (you can see which type of .avi it is by going into the properties for it)
