Mad Any freeware WMA players aviailable?

I have an X5 (PPC-2002) upon which Windows Media Player will NOT even launch. I've done as many search-and-destroy operations, followed by re-install off the Dell CD, but with the same results. Sometimes I get the little wedgie pop-up (app loading) for a second, sometimes not. Whatever, the sceen will, after about a second, give a quick blink with nothing loading.

Any freeware alternatives to play WMA? :realmad:

Well, I didn't have that many WPA files, so it didn't take that long to rip some MP3's instead. (I found a freeware package called "CDex".) I found a few nice MP3 freeware players.

NOW, I'm scheduled to get a new X50 next week. I wonder if IT will play WPA's...?

I doubt there will ever be a freeware player that can do WMA since the developer's license fee to use the WMA codec in your software is something in the neighborhood of $10k last I checked.

I had a similar problem - it was simply solved (eventually) by deleting the playlist that WMP had last used. WMP was trying to load the playlist and either it was corrupted or the files it listed were corrupted.

Hope it helps...
