Reencoding large movie files

I have been using Fibrizio's guide faithfully and have had no problems with encoding moves except for a very large movie file. Seems as though I only get half of the movie at any pass. Any suggestions as to why?

advice: for legal purposes, probably not the best idea to post movie names you are trying to rip when the owners of that movie may not allow it.

here is my advice if you are trying to legaly encode a movie.

try downloading pocket divx encoder. see if you get any further with it.

also, try re-ripping the movie you are having trouble with to see if the ripping process gave you a bad file.

use the computer as little as possible when ripping and encoding to speed things up and prevent the programs from stopping to wait for processor access.
