Video on the X50v
A few people have asked me to show them how a video or movie looks on my x50v.
Unfortunately, I did not know where to find movie clips in a format that would work. Does it just have to be .wmv? Does it require anything else other than Media Player? Once I download the file, how do i get into the device...just like putting files on to a memory stick? Sorry for all the question, but I just want to show this bad boy off. Need a little help. Thanks.

Download picards beta player, you can find some test videos on his site. Or try pocketmatrix.com they have a ton of movie trailers encoded for ppcs.

Copying right to a memory card with a card reader is how I do it.
To play .mpg files I recommend installing Pocket TV. For .avi's and Divx files get BetaPlayer. HTH Don't Panic! Bobby

Thanks.
Now, I installed BetaPlayer and downloaded a file, which I then moved over to my device. But, I cannot find it. Am I missing something? And can files from pocket matrix be used by BetaPlayer? I downloaded one of the test files from Betaplayer, but thought I'd ask.

Thanks Tom. I was actually able to find it...finally. Looks great.
But, how do I know if I put it on my storage card? When I go on to the device on my desktop, there are no folders called Memory Card, so I put in My Music. How do I go about putting on my storage card, which I obviously would rather do? Thanks for all your help.

I'm assuming you don't have a card reader so...
Upon Active Sync, click on the EXPLORE button to open file explorer on your Pocket PC. You should be able to see a CF CARD and/or an SD CARD folder there. Hope this helps!

Click on My Pocket PC but really a $10 dollar card reader will speed up the process. If you like Insane Clown Posse go to Halls of Illusion and download some of their music videos.

A card reader hooks up to your PC by USB and is much faster than using Activesync through the cradle because the cradle converts your USB datastream to serial.
Creating a My Documents folder on your card and putting your download files there prevents a file called ignore_my_docs from being created. ignore_my_docs can slow down a lot of apps beccause it makes programs look through all the folders on your card before they give results. Nah, those aren't storage cards they're just chunks of plastic. Built In Storage only has 90 something megabytes in it so stick to short videos.
