Overclocking to 666mhz delivered better fps becouse of a higher fsb then the 730mhz oc job. Not unexpected but nice to see it in effect. So, HX4700 eat my dust! :)

Eyecare

I'm new to, so let me see if I can help a fellow newbie out.

Goto:

http://picard.exceed.hu/betaplayer/test/0.093g/

Download betaplayer ver. 0.093g. I DL the setup version. This will set all the cabs for you in their default directories. There is a cabs only file, but you have to place them in your axim yourself.
Also look in the plugins folder in the above link. Download intel2700g.setup. Again, this will load this new 2700 decoder into betaplayer when you click on it later. DL is ofcourse to your desktop.

Connect Axim to your desktop with activesync. Double click on betaplayer 093g. I choose yes to load in default directories. Do the same for the 2700g decoder.

Now when you go to your program folder in your axim you will see the betaplayer icon. Tap to open it up. Go to file, open a clip and start testing and posting your results here buddy.

Be sure to end all you post with the term "Picard is King!"

probably it's easier to use the .exe files on PC when the X50v is connected via activesync (other solution is to run the .cab files on the device itself)

Do you know if the same tearing would happen on an X30H?

Also, do you know how these X50V benchmarks compare to the X30H? Has the tweaked 2700G support enabled the X50V to surpass the X30H?

Thanks again.

See:

http://blogs.shintak.info/articles/667.aspx

If I am reading the chart right. The X30H gets almost 150% with the RL_XQ bench versus the 180% on the X50v.

Not quite sure however if we are comparing apples to apples here as the X50v is a VGA device versus the QVGA of the X30H.

Exclamation 451% with MQB

What a blurrrr ... but really cool :approve:

The X30H scores just over 383%.

Thanks great. Where is it located? I am not able to find that option.

Same movie ( RL_MQB_320x240_512_128.avi ) as above but with the cpu at 666mhz ( sd card location for betaplayer & movie ): 471.30%

That's 100% above a x30h ;)

Hmmm, some more intresting fact's:

320x240 get's a max cpu utilization of 32%
640x480 get's a max cpu utilization of 78%

Both ran at 666mhz with pda in the cradle.

Keep in mind that it would only be 100% over the X30H if the X30H was also overclocked to 666MHz. In this case I do not think that it was. Close to 70% gain is still pretty good

EDIT:

What would be also neat to see is how the X30H plays at 208MHz. I got close to 100% using the 2700G plugin at 208MHz on my X50v :approve:

Same thing goes for the HX4700 ...

The HX4700 can have its larger battery. Using the 1100 battery on the X50v, the X50v should still out perform and out last the HX4700 playing movies.

Go to Options - Video

Make sure you have also installed the 2700G plug in. See Picard's first post in this thread for instructions.

If you still do not see it. Completely close out of BetaPlayer using Switcher Bar and restart. It should show up then.

Two questions:

1) What software (or feature within Betaplayer) are you guys using to benchmark various videos?

2) Within the Video options of Betaplayer, what are: Smooth Zoom (only 50%) and Smooth Zoom (always) and how do they affect performance?

msu2k: in the menu, there is a benchmark option.

yeah i actually got the smae question, what does smooth zoom 50% and always do?

also, slow video memory. what's that for?

they only effect rawframebuffer mode when the pixels are written by software to the video memory. smooth zoom will make zooming a little better but it's slower (there is two levels becasue 50% zoom be done by software much better and it default on. the 'always' is for any zoom factor, but default off). slow video will only write out changed pixels (compared to previous video frame) which will reduce video memory bandwidth requirements (but more work for cpu to compare with last frame)

with accelerated 2700g these option have no effect. the driver always uses high quality smooth scaling and the cpu doesn't even touch the video framebuffer because the video is decoded by the 2700g itself.

ah i see, slow video is actually a very good option; but does it adapt by a no-change of the pixel color or a close-enough color for that particular pixel? just wondering

and for the zoom factor, u mean less visible jagged lines with odd resolutions (what i meant by odd is something like, 512x384 trying to fit on a 320x240 screen)?

there is a small variance which is still considered same. this is why this option causes a little quality degradation in some cases.

yes. but it's not that good as hardware accelerated smooth scaling and i think it's too much speed loss for a little visual quality gain. this is why it's turned off by default.
