GSPlayer/MIDI is the best (and freeware). It uses the timidity engine and sounds fantastic. It is a little tricky getting it set up, but it is worth it.

there is a program called "IntelliArt Midi Player", but its a little pricy.

Download that and the free midi player and the free one works off the pricey one. that's how i got the free one to work. It also made sound work for my snes game.
