Transfer *.avi files to Dell Axim

How could I transfer an avi file to my Dell Axim X30H without converting to wmv format... using ActiveSync?

You can drag and drop an AVi file directly to your Axim using file explorer. Use Beta Player or Pocket DivX or PictPocket Cinema to play the file on your Axim. If it does not play, you may need to adjust some settings with the player or encode the whole file again with the proper settings using DivX Encoder.

Assuming that you put them on a SD card, then buy a cheap card reader - it will save you hours.
