Picard has three test avi's. Below are the avi's with their respective benchmark beside it.
RL_XQ_640x480_1500_128.avi 178.01%
RL_HQ_640x352_1024_128.avi 241.96%
RL_MQB_320x240_512_128.avi 422.76%
You are getting the files mixed up. My prior post actually contains three benchmarks.

Okay ... makes sense.
If you think about it though ... the ATI chip I am told is over 2 years old. It is holding its "own" pretty good considering its age.
Okay ... back on topic ...

True, it's a 2 year old chip, but this is a chip where Picard has been optimizing it for a long time. The 2700g is a relative 2 month old, where picard had his x50v ( you do have one picard? ) for only a short time, so there is only some basic acceleration in place. I expect that it will be able to do 200% on the RL_XQ in the not so far feature.
Btw: run a little cpu monitor program, it's nice to see the effect the plugin has on your cpu ( major drop ). I'm playing stargate atlantis eps with only 60% cpu at max. I let xcpuscaller drop back to 520mhz widout problems ( still fine tuning the auto cpu ballance ) and i bet i can run it with even less cpu power needed = longer battery life.
The more program's get optimized for the 2700g, the more you can save on battery live becouse the system get's less stressed. The ATI 2d accelerator is already maxed out, the 2700g isent ;)

(oops, silly me, I updated everything else but not the player to 0.94... post deletion seems not an option)

The reason is, that video acceleration is most likely very similar with both chips. Both do idct, izz and mc in hardware and i would expect similar performance. The nice thing of the 2700g is, that is has more RAM (necessary for high res videos, also see the RL_XQ benchmark) and it has a nice video filter/scaler as post processor, wich the ATI3200 is lacking. I expect the ATI performance to drop once you need to scale the videos to fullscreen.
The main difference however is, that the 2700g is 3d/2d accelerator, while the ATI3200 is only a 2d accelerator.
That said, i dont think you will see significant performance enhancement, since video decoding (as far as i undestand picard) is already running more or less completely on the 2700g without the CPU touching data. Therefore software tweaks wont help that much.

What are the optimal settings for this latest version of Betaplayer?
I'm playing the movies on my PC via wifi, but they choke the monkey every 3/4 mins or so - the timerbar spins around for a few seconds, then it continues on for another 3/4 mins :)
These are large divx files of around 800Megs
Mabbe I just have to re-encode them to a more PPC friendly format to play properly? I'm just doing this for now, as I'm still waiting for a storeage card. Is there a way I can play the existing shows over wifi without it choking out?
What settings are optimal for full screen video playback with this version of Betaplater, on the X50V?
Thanks in advance.
AXM,

Holy smokes!
I just tried the new version with the 2700G plugin, and the movies on my PC play without buffering over wifi!
I have an 800 Meg divx file @ 24Bit sample, 125Kbps & 25 Fps, playing now for 15 minutes + with no burps at all! Quality is superb!
I selected Intel 2700G Decoder (Not Intel 2700G Im not sure what the difference is) and no buffering as with the older version w/out the 2700G plug!
Huge difference! Now I can watch the movies on my PC via wifi whereas with the older version w/out the 2700G Plugin, it would buffer every 3/4 mins! Not now!!! The difference is night and day!
Thanks Picard! :approve: Keep up the awesome work!
AXM
