I selected Intel 2700G Decoder (Not Intel 2700G Im not sure what the difference is) and no buffering as with the older version w/out the 2700G plug!

Huge difference! Now I can watch the movies on my PC via wifi whereas with the older version w/out the 2700G Plugin, it would buffer every 3/4 mins! Not now!!! The difference is night and day!

Thanks Picard! :approve: Keep up the awesome work!

I never knew this could be done ... can you give step by step instructions on how you do this please.

Thanks ...

Once wifi connection is setup and the pda got an IP address you can access the windows shared folders of desktop PC's. Just use \\comuptername\sharename path in any file operation (username/password is asked if need), example in the open dialog of BetaPlayer (but you can use it with total commander or other programs)

Finally figured out how to 1) access shared folders on my desktop and 2) stream video flawlessly over wifi.

Very freaking cool! :approve:

Excuse my newbieness, but on a brand new x50v I would need to run the following files:
betaplayer.setup.UNSTABLE.0.094.exe
asf.setup.UNSTABLE.0.094.exe
intel2700g.setup.UNSTABLE.0.094.exe
Is this correct?
Would I then be able to view movies encoded with Win Media Encoder 9 (.wmv)?

Yes, you need to run them on the PC when the pda is connected via ActiveSync.

No. You should use Windows Media Player which is already on the unit (in ROM).

Oh okay ... you are simply just accessing a shared folder then and pointing BetaPlayer to that share and file accordingly.

I thought maybe there was some "magic" that sent the movie over to the PDA using some sort of "movie" network protocol. :rolling:

Thanks for the clarification ... :approve:

What is the asf setup?
I'm only running the betaplyer and intel2700g setup. Am I missing something here?

Here are some results with BetaPlayer installed in built in storage and running the movies of the SD card. This is probably a more realistic scenario as most movies will not fit into built in storage. This appears to be the best of both worlds. The key seems to have BetaPlayer installed in built in storage.

After further testing, it does still buffer, but only in fast moving scenes.

It's still way faster than the previous build w/o the 2700G plugin. For streaming a file of this size and quality over wifi it's pretty damn respectable :approve:

Cant wait to test upcoming builds!

AXM.

the 802.11b wifi streaming could not sustain my 2.5mb/s movie, but the movie was smoothly played back from my SD card. Here is the result. Thanks for the good work, Picard!

Under options > video, which "Driver" should I be using if I have an Axim X50 520 mhz (no graphics card and no vga)? The choices are "raw framebuffer", "GDI", "Null Video", and "Disabled". What are the differences?

Sweet another update, good stuff. Going to go install and benchmark again :)

EDIT: I still can't seem to get WMV files to run in betaplayer since the recent couple updates.

EDIT2: My benchmark...

(did my benchmark from RAM seeing as i had enough and this shows the real power of your PPC as results will vary depending on how good your SD card is if done from there)

Interesting ... when I ran it from built in storage I got 181.44% (See post #38). There does not seem to be any payoff running it in RAM.
