While waiting through the East Coast/California t-mobile data blackout I started playing with WMP10 for Pocket PC and finally figured out how you create a playlist with it right on the device. It's only one song at a time though. Here's how I did it.
I loaded an album from the library then clicked on Now Playing, while that album was playing I clicked on Menu > Library and opened a different album. Starting by highlighting the first song I clicked on Menu > Queue Up and proceeded down the list queuing up each song. It works but it's tedious. Still it's nice to know you don’t really need WMP10 on your desktop to create a playlist. Shuffle works (it's like random on an Ipod), changing song placement manually works, but I just do not see a way to save the playlist for later use on your device. If anybody is using WMP10 on their PCs and transferring playlists to their devices please share the knowledge. I've seen precious little about how this works other than it does work.
Here's a mix I personally wouldn't have thought of but worked pretty well; David Banner's 'Like a Pimp' followed by Fred, John and his Playboys Band 'Judy in Disguise with Glasses' followed by Big Brother and the Holding Company's (sp.) 'Oh, Sweet Mary', and just to keep it upbeat, 'Shake Ya Tailfeather' from the Bad Boys 2 Soundtrack after that. Amazing things these Pocket PCs.
I assigned my Messaging button to < Input Panel > in the hopes of selecting multiple files with the Ctl button command. No luck. Anybody tried using WordCommands with a WM2003SE device? I can't even look for the file right now for obvious reasons, but I wonder if that kids program would help. True Story: That program was developed by a high school student at a discussion forum just like this! He's from MA of course, The Hub of the Universe! . Amazing things these discussion forums.
Another WMP10 for PPC TIP! Don't use "Hold (insert button direction here)" for < Screen Toggle >. Unless you have really fast reflexes you'll just watch it go off and on. I bet our members who use text messaging on non-keyboard phones won't have this problem. Amazing thing 'Youth Culture'. I was a Youth once. < sighs >...

It has some limitations, but I was able to use it to make some playlists. You simply edit them and then save them. To make WMP play them, just tap the file you saved in Explorer.
If anyone finds any bugs or runs into problems, let me know. I am not sure how much I'll continue developing the program, but if anyone wants anything specific added, I'll see what I can do.
If anyone has tried it, please let me know if it worked for you and what you think.
Hi Jon. I've got to play around with it a bit more but so far it seems to work great. I'm trying to get away from using WMP so I'm missing the playlist feature of WMP - this looks to be a good replacement.
Most of my songs I've encoded to WMA so I'm often disappointed with WMP. Hopefully you've gotten the updated version which I announced here (http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=81589) I added the link to the 1.2 announcement to consolidate threads.
Let me know what you think and if you run into any bugs or have a suggestion.
I just loaded the playlist editor. Nice little app. Works great. I had written a couple of playlists by hand (P.I.T.A!). Thanks again. It makes using this Media Player turd almost bearable.
