DivX or Xvid? What is your choice and why?

I see seveal encoding programs support both. What are your preferences and why.
Thanks.

I read a website once that conducted tests between divx3 divx 5 and xvid. The conclusion was that Xvid had better compression but divx (3 or 5?) had crisper images.

XVID is by far better. higher quality at lower bitrates = lower file size. Also, open-source, so you don't get adware included in the DivX pro codec package. The site to checkout for any video encoding stuff is: http://www.doom9.org.

One more for Xvid. I like to use Divx for cartoon shows though. I always have nice luck with that, but I use Xvid for my movies.
