I installed/uninstalled Beta player a few days ago and find that I can no longer play any of the alarm wav files or any other files that have the wav extension.
MP3 still play through Media Player and the alarms will sound if they are attached to an appiontment or task. I simpply can not select one and tap on it to play. See below for screen shot of error message:

1. Which program are those wav file from?
2. Have you tried playing a wav file that's not on the storage card?
The icons showing are all wrong what looks like happened here is that you allowed betaplayer to take over the playing of .wav files then deleted it without returning the file associations to the default sndplay.exe program. You can't really lame BetaPlayer for that. What you need to do is return the file association for .wav files to sndplay.exe in the Windows folder of your device.

It's any wav file. None of the alarm files that are located in Windows will play nor will any that are on a card. It's like the sound player is broken.
But again, these same alarm files will play when attached to an appt or tsk.

I've got a better idea, if you can not offer anything constructive don't reply. This is the first post that I have made noting any problem(s)since Feb of 03 (activestink issue).
Forums are a place to ask questions, give, and get help if possible.
BTW - I did not blame Beta player for this issue, I simply stated that I installed/uninstalled the program and have had a prob since this.

Okay GOIRISH!! I'll let you take over. j/k But before I sit back and relax try PocketTweak to restore your file associations and Total Commander for PocketPC to see file extensions in an explorer app. These freeware apps or something similar are what was needed to make my previous solution work. You've been here for over a year. I thought you had read about how to change file associations by now.

That did the trick!! I already use Total Commander but had forgotten all about PocketTweak. As far as being a member here for a year, well this just never happened before. I've been using PPC since my EM500; the X50v is my fifth so it's not like I'm a noob at this. I've been fortunate enough to Beta test PI as well as a couple of other apps but hey, you learn something new every day. Now maybe I will be able to help someone else with this same information.
Thanks for the help!! :approve:
Now let's be friends!!

so the moral of the story that BetaPlayer should restore associations when it's uninstalled :D
Since programming is not my forte, is that something can be written in to the code of the program? And is it a big deal to do?
Just wondering. :headscrat
