Big Smile Axim 30H to Hifi - Wireless Audio + Remote

Just thought i'd share this as i thought it was so frikkin cool and free !

I thought GSPlayer was a really good with streaming and that, when listening to Shoutcast streams and stuff. But there was a problem with my G4 in work with sound only coming from one channell so i though, hey i'll stream it to the Axim. So i got a streaming server (for free) from www.squeezebox.com

So i happily started streaming my music to GS player on the Axim using the cradle and plugged my headphones into the Axim, great, could listen to my music in proper stereo and change songs/create playlists etc through the web interface, but then i thought , hang on this should work over wireless shouldn't it ?

So i created a wireless network on my PowerMac G4 connected to it with the Axim and was able to stream wirelessly.

So this was cool, i went home , tried it with my G4 at home and was able to stream to the hifi downstairs via the Axim. The only thing was i couldn't change the songs, i would have to go all the way back upstairs again.

So i logged into the web interface in landscape mode using Pocket IE, The result ? Complete access to all my tunes the machine upstairs in the sitting room downstairs wirelessly, and i can make playlists and stuff from the Axim !! track forward and back etc and its all FREE , FREE !!

How cool is that

Keith.

P.S. sqeezebox rocks !

Keith, This sounds kind of like what I want to do. I have an X30 wireless and a Dell Dimension 4600 desktop running Windows XP. I have all my mp3 and WMA music files on my PC. I want to play the music on my PC through my stereo downstairs.

I have a cable that runs from my stereo into the headphone jack on the X30 so I can play music from my Dell OK. Now I just want to connect my Dell PDA wirelessly to my desktop and access my music library. I don't even mind if I have to set up the playlist on my PC.

I don't have a wireless router yet but can easy buy one here for about US$50. I just don't want to have to buy another gadget to get the wireless signal from upstairs to my stereo when I already have an X30.

Any ideas?
