Music

Still having some problems with MP3/WMA basics. Hope someone can help.

After converting to WMA I used file explorer on my computer to drag and drop files onto the SD card in my Axim. When I did this WMP (axim) wouldn't play them because it said the license wasn't there and I had to transfer files with WMP on the computer. Sure enough WMP has a way to transfer files but no way to specify a location on the SD card. I can only transfer a few files at a time to memory.

I know that if I got a card reader/writer it would speed things up, but I assume that wouldn't transfer the license either. Is this only a problem with WMAs, not MP3s?

Also - it seems difficult to transfer a file from memory on the axim to the SD card. Sometimes you get a "rename/move" option, other times just "rename". Is there an easy way to move files to the card?

As always, thanks

Were these files you ripped yourself? There should'nt be any licensing issues with those unless something really changed recently.

If they're ripped MP3's from your own CD collection and your using WMP10 on your PC let that do the conversion. It does it on the fly to the transferred files and leaves your saved MP3's intact.

These are files that I ripped from my own CDs. I have WMP9 on my computer. Not sure if 10 will work with Win98SE.

Thanks

Make sure you have unticked "Copy protect music" in the Tools>Option>Copy Music page in Windows Media Player on your PC and then when you rip the CD's you will have no problems when you copy them to your SD card.
