MP3 is a compressed format already. So not really, no. You could re-encode it to a smaller bitrate. iTunes would do that. What bitrate is it now?

Of course a smaller bitrate means lower quality.

If it's only voice you could convert it to 64Kb/s and you'd have it at half the size..

22kb's is a popular streaming format. Give a listen to the comedy channel at this link and see what you think.

You could use iTunes to do it. Or search on here for "convert MP3"

Windows Media Encoder would work too but I'm not sure what version is the most current. There was a streaming profile last time I used it. It's been a long time though and I was doing .avi to .wmv back then. Check out one of these OTR, (Old Time Radio), files for another example. Give me a few for the link, I'm mobile ;) and I never made one of those sites a mobile favorite.

Edit: URL added at 11:02PM EST.

i converted my files from mp3 to ogg vorbis format because offers the same audio quality with smallest files using dBpowerAMP Music Converter. it`s easy to use and free. in some files i passed from a 7mb file to 3.5mb and in others the reduction is minimal but it`s a good option to save memory, especially if you don`t have enough.

OGG is excellent. For best results though, don't re-encode. Re-rip from the source.
