I posted this already in another (less appropriate) thread, but i'll post it here again...
picard,
does the the latest aac plugin/betaplayer support 5.1 aac files? I'm trying to play an mkv file that has two 5.1 HE AAC tracks (english and japanese) and betaplayer is telling me "Unrecognized file format".
At least on .095 I was able to get video and no sound, however now on .096 I cant even play the file...
Everyone talks about settings to maximize performance with BetaPlayer, but what about maximizing battery life? I don't mind a few dropped frames here and there if it extends my battery... I notice that there are different options like "Slow video memory" and the like... which ones would maximize battery life on my X50v?
You can get a battery extender from semsons for $6.99. It works with 4 AA batteries and will charge your battery 3 times per set (YMMV) or triple your normal battery life. The right accessories make power consumption a moot point.

mpeg1 video is already supported in BetaPlayer and mpeg2 video is not supported by any pocketpc player I know of.
I would be satisifed with only sub, srt, smi support and the built in subtitle streams of ogm and mkv :)
Is there a reason for thee not being any MPEG2 support for Pocket PC's yet? Is it that MPEG 2 is far to hard to build a player for? Why hasn't anyone done this yet? Very surprising!

All right, I'll bite. Where is all this MPEG-2 content?

<rant>Newsgroups (especially the binary ones which contain data) are controversial although the point needs to be made that they are not illegal. While there may be copyrighted material posted to any newsgroup, it is up to the individual to exercise caution when deciding what to download/upload. You wouldn't blame the telephone company if someone had an illegal conversation using their network for example.</rant>
Personally, I'm crying out for MPEG-2 support in BetaPlayer.
Well the top ten (sorted by post count) vcd newsgroups (see below) currently have over 4 million posts

I'm not begging Picard to make MPEG2 stuff playable in Betaplayer. Yes of course it would be awesome but he has done a crazy good enough job just getting where he is at this point. What I was wndering was if there was any reasons for not doing it at first. Like is it really hard to do? Is it more complex than other codecs? Personally the main reason i would like it is for some of teh 3D work I do, alot of it ends up as MPEG2. But I have become used to converting what I need to play in Beta player to MPEG1, and will continue to do so until MPEG2 is an option in beta player.
And when it does Betaplayer will be without a doubt, the best player for the Pocket PC. No questions asked.

I am also dying for MPEG2 support, but make sure to browse the other forum thread where Picard just indicated that he might integrate MPEG2 support in future ;)

How exactly does this info help you picard_beta? Just curious.
Actually I'am not interested too much in benchmarks, but user interface and player functionality testing. The topic title sais "testing" and not "benchmarking" :)

My attention got a little distracted..., but after the bugs are fixed I will add mpeg2 support (first without interlace).
Oh well in that case I'd like to see the Colors settings options moved to the main screen. It's a little cumbersome switching between the options pages and the main screen to see your results. The button mapping option helps make this easier but there are only so many buttons on a Pocket PC.

Subtitle support will have a side effect which will help in this matter: OSD :)

.096 compatibile with X30 High / A03 ROM Revision?
Is .096 a good version to use on my X30 High with A03 ROM revision? I have purposely stayed back on A03 because I play a mixture of WMA and MP3 files through Betaplayer.
I am currently using .091 on A03 and have noticed that it locks up from time to time. It never used to do this. Should I roll back to a previous version of betaplayer, bearing in mind that I also want to play WMA files?
I'd say go for it. You still have your 0.091 files if you don't like the latest version don't you?
