This app is bloody brilliant. Works in ozVGA and I was streaming 700+mb divx encodes from my media server at full screen with no noticeable flaws.

If this did rm files I could toss realplayer.

Cheers

They love you over in the UK picard-beta.

This is an excerpt from the Trusted Reviews Review of the X50v; "My previous experience of getting DIVX content to play on PocketPC have been pretty dissapointing, but in a quite timely fashion an independent programmer has come up with a new application for PocketPC for reading DIVX and XVID content with far greater performance than any previous application. There’s even a plug-in available to take advantage of the ‘Marathon’ graphics chip. This app is called ‘BetaPlayer’ and can be downloaded here. Don’t be put of by the ‘Unstable’ description as it worked flawlessly for me. Once installed I copied over a 700MB DIVX film to my 1GB IBM Microdrive, and was simply bowled over by the smoothness and quality of the playback."

Now that that lovefest is over How about...

Well I've got nothing really, I just wanted you to see this excerpt, :hide: ;)

Intel 2700G is the base video plugin used (the 'decoder' postfix not shown here). 480x640 is obvious. 'Slow' is that 'slow video memory' option is checked in advanced settings (this is because accessing the video memory of 2700G is slower as accessing normal memory, but because the 2700G does the decoding the player itself don't have to write too much into the video memory itself).

So do I have to change my settings to get the best quality or is it OK?

Question

I've been experiencing occasional crashes with Betaplayer running with 2700g plugin.. Not just the latest unstable release, but every release since the first 2700g version.. It only occurs when pausing the video, by tapping the screen.. usually if I'm watching and I want to pause the video, I'll tap the screen and the full user interface is restored and video is paused. But occasionally, betaplayer will lock up and stay in fullscreen landscape mode with the image replaced with a blank image.. Screen and buttons then are locked and have no response, necessitating a soft reset..

I haven't posted about this, since it is minor and only happens occasionally, but was wondering why nobody else has mentioned it.. Has this happened to anyone else? or is it just me..

I'm having problems getting a movie to play...

the file is 700mb - I only need to fit one movie on the compact flash and I'm too lazy to convert the movie to a smaller size. when I try to skip to different scenes, it'll tell me that the index file is corrupt and I cant use the seek bar. then after a few minutes of playing the movie, it'll skip ahead to a different scene. then eventually the movie freezes with the sound looping. I can still close the player and it doesn't need a soft reset. the file is a divx file. I've alo tried pocketmvp, and it doesn't even play the file, it just hangs.

on my computer the movie plays perfectly in media player, no errors while skipping, etc.

I'm using unstable .096.

it's called "spooning".
yea, but you gotta put the other arm somewhere. you can either lay on it or shove it in between your bodies; the only other option is to stretch it above your head. but sometimes my arm pops out of socket when I'm sleeping like that. so I was constantly searching for some place to keep my arm, while still laying close to her.
and?
what do you mean 'and'?! that's like a metaphor for a whole relationship.

Try Defragging your CF card or a scandisk with fix errors. I had that happen with a PCMCIA hard drive and doing that fixed it. It was like the Ax was losing the connection or something. I bet at some point if you look in file explorer you won't see the CF card until you soft reset.

Ok, First off, I just wanted to thank you very much for your work on this program, and your generosity, because I could easily see paying $25 for this program (And the support is good too, or so I hear ) For these reasons I emptied out my Paypal account for you, (Yeah, so I only had $1 in there, whatever )

But since I did donate in whatever small portion, I feel entitled to mention one small 'annoyance' I found after playing around with the program for about 2 weeks or so now. I used the very handy 'Hot Key' function to make a button assignment looking like

Calendar - Next
Contacts - Previous
Mail - Fullscreen
Home - Screen On/Off

So when I am working I like to listen to Mp3's, but toggle my screen off, as to use less battery power. But when I push the next or previous buttons to skip a song, the screen flashes on for about 1 second. Not a big deal, but just one of those things

Thanks for your time and all your work!
-Brad

I found a bug with the playlist saving functionality. When I try to save a playlist in a folder, it always saves it as the name of the current folder, and puts the file in the current folder's parent folder. So for example, if I try to save a playlist in the \folder1\folder2\ folder, no matter what I name it, it will always be saved as \folder1\folder2.pls. This is mildly annoying, and although I can make it work, it'd be nice if the program named and saved the playlists correctly to begin with.

i encountered similar problem. it's just i can't seem to find a pattern of this problem, so i didn't post it..

besides what you mentioned that the problem can happen when tappig the screen to pause it, i found it also happen when i press the "OK" button at the upper-right corner of the playlist, or when it finishes the current video clip and goes on to the next one in the playlist, or after I do the benchmark and save the result, or simly when the videoclip ends..

but it happens occasionally, sometime when I try to reproduce problem, i just can't reproduce it..

But one thing is for sure (it's not for sure. I just encountered the same problem when using my SD card, when i taped on the screen to pause it, it just hang there. I had to do a soft reset...), that is all this happens when the videos clips are on my CF card... (i am using a Hagiwara CF 1GB, it's much slower than my SD card, but it still show around 146% benchmark result for the largest Matrix trailer.. I am not sure whether it is because of the CF card...)

I had this too a few times, but couldn't find the problem yet.
