But when I push the next or previous buttons to skip a song, the screen flashes on for about 1 second. Not a big deal, but just one of those things
In earlier versions the screen stayed on after button press which was much more annoying. The screen is turned on by the OS and I can't do anything about it except to turn if off after the button is released.
I found a bug with the playlist saving functionality. When I try to save a playlist in a folder, it always saves it as the name of the current folder, and puts the file in the current folder's parent folder. So for example, if I try to save a playlist in the \folder1\folder2\ folder, no matter what I name it, it will always be saved as \folder1\folder2.pls. This is mildly annoying, and although I can make it work, it'd be nice if the program named and saved the playlists correctly to begin with.
I had one video not play sound. It was "Queen's greatest videos, volume 1" betaplayer gave a popup about increasing cache or someting like that. I just dropped the project. I'll try again and let you know methcatus. Don't hold your breathe though music videos are pretty far down on my list of flicks to convert.

well, i tried letting it auto run again and now i get the "increase buffer size" error you were talking about. it almost sounds like it(betaplayer) was trying to play the sound until the eroor popped up. i increased my program mem to 27mb but still no go. the properties tag in beta has these specs...
audio stream:0055
codec: libmad mpeg audio
sample rate: 48000 Hz
channels: 2
data bit rate: 128 kbit's
These two are form another thread picard_beta. Can you tell what cache we have to increase to get these movies to play sound? The ripping program was fairuse if that makes a difference.

as usual, thanks for your great piece of software.
just wondering (kinda related to this), if it is possible to make a button to be assigned to a function that, when a button is pressed (hold) the screen lights up, displaying the information of the media you're playing (or just simply betaplayer itself); on release, turns the device's LCD off again? That'd be great for people that downloads songs and just want to know the info by holding a button and turn it off right away after?

this mean anything to anyone?
good idea as i'm starting to think it may be with betaplayer now. anyone familiar with beta enough to know which buffer should be increased? there is the "normal" buffer and the "microdive" buffer and being as though it's on a microdrive i'm not sure which to increase. the error doesn't come up when i click microdrive mode in betaplayer but then the movie stalls at the same place the error would come up. (i think the error/stall comes up right after about 1/4 second of sound...)
btw, it is beta 096 i'm using...
edit***
i tried doubling each of the buffers independantly and still no go. i just get the error if microdrive not is checked and a stall if it is.

I assume something is wrong and this is not a problem of low "normal buffer" size. Most likely the audio and video streams are not interleaved correctly. Currently BetaPlayer only supports interleaved avi files.

i think in fair use it "guesses" which type you want... i didn't know so i let it select for me. i'll try the other type tonight...
I've been experiencing occasional crashes with Betaplayer running with 2700g plugin.. Not just the latest unstable release, but every release since the first 2700g version.. It only occurs when pausing the video, by tapping the screen.. usually if I'm watching and I want to pause the video, I'll tap the screen and the full user interface is restored and video is paused. But occasionally, betaplayer will lock up and stay in fullscreen landscape mode with the image replaced with a blank image.. Screen and buttons then are locked and have no response, necessitating a soft reset..
I haven't posted about this, since it is minor and only happens occasionally, but was wondering why nobody else has mentioned it.. Has this happened to anyone else? or is it just me..
Nope this happens to me ALL the time. Happened to me twice today while watching some anime. I paused it and the video went to a black screen. I had to soft-reset. I've been experiencing a myriad of oddities with Betaplayer, but it's a good piece of software. Just....a little buggy.
Probably it was about interlacing and not interleaving. In theory the avi file should be interleaved by default.
this is the option i was talking about... not really sure what it means...
edit*** well, i was going to post a screen capture of the option page but the forums won't let me post anything larger than 450x450 and i can't figure out how to shrink it anymore without losing the legibility... i'll try to figure it out tommorrow i guess...
