hey ppl,
one of my friends suggested that i could convert all my simpsons eps along with family guy into a format that will fit on the the axim. I tried to use some directions from a site that told u how to go from dvd.. a lot of the info didnt apply to my needs. so needless to say it didnt work the way i tried to do it, using virtual dub. they are in all kinds of formats and resolutions. the one i tried was already in 320x240 and i converted a 18 meg file and it came out 34 megs! obviously i screwed up somewhere.. if someone could point me to a guide or give me some steps to take to get these tv eps on my axim. all i can find are dvd ripping instructions.

Hopefully Chris, the Admin, will come through soon with his much awaited Tutorial on this subject.
I got pretty good results w/ VirtualDub, and scrunched a 50Mb file down to 9.4Mb ... but that's a two minute clip.
I used WindowsMediaEncoder to get a 16Mb file down to 1.4Mb, but it's lower quality and smaller, but still watchable. About 15fps playback, full media player window on the Axim.

http://geocities.com/efuest/Encode_DivX_vi...he_PocketPC.htm

i have been using these compression settings for rotated fullscreen- full motion video.. i have already converted 15 dvds and 30 tv shows.. macgyver sinfeld simpsons ....
the origional tutorial came from dc++--- dcplusplus.sf.net--on the only pocket pc hub

anyway if you use these settings... or make yourown.. (EA:instead of 2 pass i use 1 pass)--and play your videos in "Pocket MVP" the successor to pocket divx (made by the same group).. your Axim will be like haveing a portable TIVO where ever you go!

PS.. get a storage card.. i have a 512mb IBM microdrive, and a 128m sd card to store 10 hours of video on my AXIM. also if you set up a wireless network these movies are perfect for streaming to your AXIM.

How long does it take to convert for an average 1 hour show, or a 1 hour and 45 minute movie?
