problem playing music

I downloaded some music from i-tunes (using Missing Sync). The music appears in my axim Audio file, but when I click on it, it says that it can't find an application and that I should open from the application. But when I open Windows Media on the Axim, I can't find the music.

Can anyone help me with this?

Windows media player supports WMA and MP3 for audio formats. I don't believe it supports music from i-tunes. Do a search of the forums and see what you come up with.

If all else fails you can go with the burn and rip method (burn them to a CD then rip them to mp3s).

If you are using purchased music from itunes, it is in "AAC protected" format or .m4p. Windows Media Player won't play AAC files (protected (.m4p) or unprotected (.m4a)) at all.

You would have to covert the .m4p files to .mp3 files. Uuse itunes burn the songs to a music CD, reimport to itunes as .mp3 and use Missing Sync.

You can also use BetaPlayer (with the AAC plugin) to play unprotected (.m4a) files. Look on the internet for how to convert protected AAC files to unprotected AAC files and some of the problems associated with this.

Download BetaPlayer v0.096 at http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/

there is also a PPC AAC player here: http://www.40th.com

That will play AAC files from iTunes but not protected AAC files from iTunes Music Store.

Well I thought Missing Sync changes the format to .mp3. So I don't think it is that. Open Media Player and if you're not already there open Library (menu > library). Then click menu > update library. That should find all the songs that are on your Axim. After it says the library has been updated click done at the bottom. Now on the next screen click library at the top. On the drop down menu make sure that it is selected on either storage card or my device (where ever your music is located).

:)

I did everything that you said, but it still doesn't show up. Yet, when not in Media, it does show up under Audio in My Devices. i wonder if it downloaded correctly. By the way, all of my music has been downloaded from CDs, not purchased through i-tunes, so they should already be in mp3 format.

any other suggestions, except to try downloading differently?

thanks for your time. I really appreciate it.

When you rip from CD you can choose to rip into AAC or MP3. Check what format they're actually in.

In your itunes playlist, you might have a column called "kind" (if not right click on a column header and select kind). That will tell you if it is an AAC or MPEG (MP3) file.

If you've imported your CD using AAC, you can reimport your CDs into MP3 files (go to itunes preferences, importing and select import using "MP3 encoding")--this is the highest quality option. Otherwise, if you change your importing preference to MP3 encoding, you can select a song(s), go to the advanced menu and select "convert selection to MP3"--more convenient but music won't sound as good since you've encoded twice. Try and see if it is good enough for you.
