Ahh, you should have been more clear. When you insert the dvd and open up DVD Decrypter there is a tab behind the 'Input' Tab that says 'Stream Processing'. Click on that and in that list it should tell you.

I am not sure. I know what you mean about the size being larger than what you want, but I've never experienced any audio sync problems with it. Sorry.

Hmmm, in the bottom right corner of your desktop there is a Speaker icon, click on that so it opens a board full of little sliders, make sure all of them are at least 90% when you encode your video, and see if that helps. I used to have that problem, but no longer do, and thats really the only audio type thing I have changed.

Hope this helps.

Okay, like I said, I don't use Auto GordianKnot so I can't give you exact instructions. Can you work with the ripped audio in a separate file (e.g. WAV)? If you can, you'll want to open the WAV file in a good audio program (e.g. BeSweet, Adobe Audition) and perform a "downmix" (from Dolby Digital 5.1 to 2-channel stereo) and "normalize" function on the audio waveform, and then re-save the WAV file. Use this new WAV file to replace the old audio file.

Perhaps someone experienced with Auto GordianKnot can explain how to downmix and normalize audio?

Mank - Try changing the audio (from the tutorial) from "auto" to VBR Mp3 (then raise the value that says 128 up a level or 2). that works for me... and BTW totally fixed my 5 sec audio off problem (see my above post).

it's not on your PPC it's in AGK when you're encoding the vid - look in advanced settings (top right of that window when it pops up).

I don't mean to be a prick but could you use DVD Shrink instead of DVD Decrypter on step 1? Just asking.

ha you're far from a prick - i'm just glad this thread woke up. i'm not sure what DVD shrink is - but i know you can mix and match. i used DVD decrypter and then pocketDivXEncoder (PDE) instead of Auto Gordion Knot a few times (still like AGK better tho).

Dvd Shrink doesn't create the IFO File needed by AGK ;)

well - just to report back on those problems i was having - used PDE and they didn't happen there. i guess my method at the present will be to use AGK except in those rare occasions when i can't get something to work right (like w/ these cartoon episodes) then try out PDE (since both are free no worries right?). from my experiments though - AGK produces much higher quality vid at the same mb target.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the great tutorial. I just finished encoding the 3rd Harry Potter film. Looks pretty good at only 485mb.

Another dumb question: If I increase the output size limit, will I generally get better quality video?

Lastly, what size limit do you suggest for hour long television programs?

Thanks again.

I am new to trying to put video on to a PPC. I have tried to follow the directions here, but here is my problem. If I specify a size for the file, it goes over that whil I am using the AutoGK progam. I put a 30 minute sitcom onto a 1 GB CF card, specified at 125 MB, and them tried putting the Bourne Identity on specified at 500 MB. The process was not able to complete due to a lack of storage. I do not know if this is enough info or not, but if someone has any iinsight, feel free to respond. Thanks, Kim
